FISGlobal.com Product Pages

Creating consistency and focus in a vast and disparate product ecosystem

FIS Global has several hundred products and services that span many sectors and functions, and many are presented on FISGlobal.com in inconsistent ways.

The product page redesign initiative was urgently needed in order to facilitate better site-wide usability and to improve overall brand impression.

My responsibilities in this project include content strategy, UX and UI, and art direction.

GOALS FOR PRODUCT PAGE REDESIGN

ONE

Establish visual consistency across all sectors and product types, and help users better distinguish between topic pages and product pages.

TWO

Create a more focused, single-page experience that relies less on downloadable assets and external links, surfacing only relevant information to the page, resulting in better SEO opportunities.

THREE

Design a modular system with an expanded component library that will increase efficiency for both content creation and development.

STEP ONE:
Flow

Because the site navigation would not be updated in this initiative, the current journey to product pages was mapped in order to understand what visitors have already learned about FIS Global’s services and products, and to make sure there is a clear pathway.

Two site-based entry points and the funnel to product pages:

Five paths lead to product pages:

STEP TWO:
Content audit

A content audit was conducted to find out what content types were in use, which could be consolidated, and which are outdated or irrelevant. Content types were then distilled into a common list that would be applicable across all products.

A variety of product pages were audited to see what content types were in use:

Content creators must use only content types that are outlined below; distinct components will be designed for each.

STEP THREE:
Information hierarchy

Based on the Research and Discovery phase of the customer journey, a logical order of content types was determined. The hierarchy was illustrated in a content-blocking schematic.

STEP FOUR:
Component design

A modular system of distinct components was designed for each content type. Some components are mandatory and some are optional, but they all need to be presented in a prescribed order on each product page.

Completed product page

The totality of the modular pieces will lead to a comprehensive overview of FIS Global’s individual software products.

The level of detail and supporting content will appeal to executive leadership at banks, fintechs, and other financial institutions.

PLANNED NEXT STEPS

This project was ongoing as the above case study was prepared; these are some next steps that were planned for future iterations and optimization of the design.

DEVELOPMENT

Because these pages were hard-coded in HTML in order for a timely launch, components will need to be developed for each module to fill a component library.

TESTING

User testing has been planned for post-launch. Tests will focus on validation of design decisions made for this design (rather than comparing the previous design), with usability, engagement, and conversion marked as success metrics.

DESIGN AND CONTENT REFINEMENT

Pending test results and analysis, a phase for copy adjustments and design refinements is scheduled.
